Disney
California Adventure is a stylized rendition
of the sunshiny state of California. Though
the park is located in the state itself, there
essentially are no repetitions. More or less,
the park targets tourists within the state,
for them to savor a larger-than-life replica
of the Golden State.
More than anything, the park is noted for
its more adult approach.Rides here are faster
and more challenging, while the shows convey
more adult themes. Alcohol is even served
here, unlike in other parks. The theme park
opened on February 8, 2001, situated adjacent
to Disneyland Park.
Various areas recreate different California
landmarks such as a miniature Golden Gate
Bridge. The lay of the land is demarcated
into sections each hosting a common denominator.
Paradise Pier is one of those sections, hailed
the most vibrant for its large and colorful
rides. The area themed after the Santa Monica
Pier or the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk has
a very large Ferris wheel known as the Sun
Wheel. Another section is the Route 66 area,
with notable attractions as the Jumpin' Jellyfish
and Golden Zephyr.
Probably the most faithful rendition of commonplace
California and more is Golden State, a subdivision
further divided into three sub-lands: Condor
Flats, Redwood Creek, and the Pacific Wharf.
Condor Flats pays homage to everything about
aviation. For one, it features Soarin over
California, a simulated hang-glider ride.
Pacific Wharf is based on Monterey's Cannery
Row area and contains a couple of restaurants,
along with a beer truck and a Mission tortilla
factory. The tour guides are no less than
Rosie O'Donnell and Colin Mochrie, who appear
via video.
This foliage is thicker in Grizzly Peak Recreational
Area, themed after the Californian wilderness.
Its most salient feature is the Grizzly River
Run, holding the record for the highest drop
for its kind, at nearly 30 feet.
Hollywood Pictures Backlot is a simulation
of Hollywood streets and movie studios. The
sections 2000-seat Hyperion Theatre regularly
stages Disney's Aladdin - A Musical Spectacular.
A bug's land - Obviously, the land orients
towards tinier perspectives. Flik, Princess
Atta, Hopper and all those insect friends
inspired by the movie A Bug's Life are ubiquity
in the area. The area hosts attractions such
as Ugly Bug Ball and Its Tough to Be a Bug,
both sprightly perspectives on how it feels
to be a bug.
