IDisneySea
is otherwise a park grounded in a more present-day
perspective of the ocean. In contrast, the
parks Port Discovery is astounding in its
future vision. The theme land is compact in
size, and is most visited for three major
attractions.
One is the StormRider, presented by JCB Co.,
Ltd. The premise is that The Center for Weather
Control wishes to test a Storm Diffusion Device,
designed to help minimize a storms energy.
The device is designated to be detonated at
the seething center of a surging storm. The
target is an impending large typhoon and guests
are invited to board one of the Center's flying
weather laboratories right to the center of
the storm.
In Aquatopia, guests can board one of the
experimental watercraft and embark on an unpredictable
ride through a labyrinth of fountains, rock
formations and whirlpools. Without giving
guests control, the vehicles will playfully
toss, albeit safely, guests around. The entire
course is facilitated by unseen technology
borrowed from Tokyo Disneyland's Pooh's Hunny
Hunt. One may not how the watercraft look
like bumper cars, but they really do not bump
into anything.
Lastly, there is the DisneySea Electric Railway
connecting the New York Harbor section of
American Waterfront and the conspicuous, stylish
depot on the elevated point of Port Discovery.
All in all, the ride relatively caries on
without glitches, but the trip is only one-way.
A nifty little shop known as Discovery Gifts
rests right in the middle of Port Discovery,
unmistakable with a giant wind machine in
perpetual rotation. This same kinetic wind
machine generates power for all of Port Discovery.
The shop sells merchandise predominantly StormRider
themed, plus items like model planes and futuristic-looking
clocks. They even sell gear for personal weather
experiments.
Horizon Bay Restaurant in the area caters
to diners up for a traditional nautical theme.
Largely served buffet-style, the menu almost
always features seafood dishes. Seaside Snacks
on the other hand serves Gyoza Sausage Buns
and soft drinks.
Perfect for discriminating sweet-toothed diners,
Breezeway Bites, located near the Port Discovery
Electric Railway Station, serves scrumptious
pastries to scientists and visitors alike.
